Global Award Winning SEaB Energy Awarded Prestigious “Game Changing” LAUNCH: Beyond Waste
SOUTHAMPTON, UK – SEaB Energy has been selected from a global search, as one of nine ‘game changing’ innovations that have the potential to transform the current waste management systems and practices. LAUNCH: Beyond Waste invited proposals, with the ultimate goal being a sustainable future for the planet Earth and its inhabitants.
LAUNCH searches for visionaries, whose world-class ideas, technologies or programs show great promise for making tangible impacts on society. NASA, USAID, Department of State, and NIKE joined together to form LAUNCH in an effort to identify, showcase and support innovative approaches to sustainability challenges.
LAUNCH invited proposals for innovative design for zero waste solutions, waste elimination, waste transformation, and waste mitigation technologies, as well as waste reduction-focused education, business, and financial strategies that have the potential to reduce and/or eliminate waste at a household, community, office building, campus, or industrial level.
Sandra Sassow CEO, SEaB Energy said “We are delighted to have been selected by LAUNCH: Beyond Waste on behalf of our customers, business partners and staff. MUCKBUSTER® has a wide appeal in both the developed and developing world, as well as for specific vertical markets, such as disaster recovery and military applications. The systems, housed in 40 foot shipping containers, generate energy and income from food waste and other bio wastes, on sites generating between 200 and 1000 tonnes of waste per year. SEaB Energy plans to deploy units globally using local partners and a localised supply chain. Our highly motivated and experienced team are fully equipped to make our vision a reality.”
Most importantly, LAUNCH Innovators have the unique opportunity to accelerate their innovations for greater impact and scale by leveraging the advice, networks, and resources of this esteemed group and the global stage LAUNCH provides. This Challenge, as noted above, spans the full hierarchy of waste, as well as systems and practices of various levels. LAUNCH: Beyond Waste seeks to transform “waste” from a by-product with a negative impact to a resource and asset for society. LAUNCH: Beyond Waste seeks transformational solutions to the problem of waste through disruptive innovation, behavioral change, systems design, policy, and stewardship.
